One of my favourite young funk band is without any doubt SLAPBAK Feat Jara Harris, one of the FUNKIEST BASSMAN I've ever had the chance to meet. A few huge Funk Masters released from 1992 when "FAST FOOD FUNKATEERS" was a start in the Music Business....followed by numerous albums all beter than the other ones....The track I've selected for you tonight is coming from the special version of the LP "IF IT AIN'TBROKE, DON'T FUNK WID IT" issued in 1995. It's called "LEAVE MY MOMA OUTTA THIS"

This Concert had been recorded live in CLEVELAND in 1988 during the MILLER SOUND EXPRESS TOUR. ALICIA MYERS - SPIRIT OF THE BOOGIE
ALICIA MYERS is a symbolic figure of the group of Al Hudson and The Soul Partners (you'll surely recognize her indentifiable voice in the monster funk hit " How do you do ") become, at the very beginning of the 80s, legendary ONE WAY whom we doubtless know with their universal Hits such as " You can do it " (that she moreover co-wrote) and "Mister Groove". She realized quite 4 solo albums from 1981 'till 1984 ("Alicia" and "Again" in 1981, "I Fooled You This Time" in 1982, "I appreciate" in 1984 (incl: " You get the Best From me "). I propose you here "Spirit of The Boogie", a track coming from her first album where you'll recognize without any concern the mark of her mentor Al Hudson. L.A.VOYAGE - L.A.VOYAGE II
Everybody has already heard about the band L.A. VOYAGE. 2 albums released on the same label " TRANS A " in 1982 and 1987. Both Lp's are very indemand. The one I' ll present here is the second Lp released in 1987 and is simply called "L.A.VOYAGE II"... Let me offer you 2 soundclips of this LP which is more soundly synthetic than the 82 LP. They are " I FOUND YOU " and " BABY DON'T GO "
C ON THE FUNK MEDLEY
I always loved the band CAMEO...It has been without any doubt one of the first Funk band I've been a fan of. As we unfortunately don't hear or read anything new from them for awhile, I thought it would have been a good idea to set up a small medley of what the Cameo Style was...I did it myself....it is not anything professionnal but who cares...the most important thing is the spirit behind this set...I hope you'll appreciate as I did...

THE DEELE - MEGAMIX
Do you know this German label T-S-R ( TrendSetteR) which between 1984 and the beginning of the 90s had launched the idea of editing reissues, remixed of the Tops of US CHARTS as well as Mixes in particular the big classics of the labels SOLAR, T.T.E.D and TOO HOT . Regrettably, their career was not very long and they were quickly penniless so that they had to put keys under the doormat neglecting thousands of unsold copies.... What became these pancakes ???
On the site of DISCOPATRICK, a very nice Dutch collector with whom I had the opportunity to discuss, you will find a little more information on this a little exclusive label...
Well I received one of these unsold copies. It is in this particular case a PICTURE DISC of the group THE DEELE on which the present Megamix appear

SUGAR DADDY - ONE MORE TIME
You'll remember very certainly this other 12" of SUGAR DADDY sampling the terrific tube of the QUEEN " ANOTHER ONE BITES THE DUST ". Here is another one of this rapper edited on the label BC RECORD in 1981. It is entitled "ONE MORE TIME".... The present one samples an other excessively known track but I let you guess the original title and singer.. it will be an opportunity to appeal to your memory and to your perspicacity....

SLAVE - THE WAY YOU DANCE (EXT VERS)
We do not present any more SLAVE, famous BAND of FUNK originally formed by STEVE WASHINGTON (who is no other one than the nephew of RALPH " PEE WEE " MIDDLEBROOK of the famed OHIO PLAYERS) that became mainly active between the end of 70s and the end of 80s. They count in their asset not less than 14 albums. The main members of the group are thus STEVE WASHINGTON (who will create the band AURRA), KEITH NASH, MARK ADAMS (the monstrous BASS PLAYER), MARK " DRAC " HICKS, DANY WEBSTER with a voice so particular and temporary STEVE ARRINGTON (singer and drummer of the group).

JERRY JONES, musician far from being a novice in the business.... He began his very young career when he sang and played Gospel for his church... Then in the late 60's, he really began to exercise his drummer's talents for renowned artists like THE TEMPTATIONS, THE P-FUNK ALLSTARS, KOOL & THE GANG, JOHNNIE TAYLOR, THE FIVE SPECIAL, BRENDA & THE TABULATIONS, etc, etc....
He unfortunately did not really know personal success but we can anyway mention the 12" that I present you now. It is entitled " MYSTERIOUS & SEXY ", written and produced in 1987 by himself and by ERNEST WILLIAMSON. It's been engineerd in the house of THE HIT FACTORY in NEW YORK by KENDALL STUBBS and RONALD BELL from KOOL & THE GANG. Realized for POLYGRAM and distributed by MERCURY
TOMORROW'S EDITION - IN THE GROOVES (REMIXED)
Everybody knows this band called "TOMORROW'S EDITION" with their famous album "A SONG FOR EVERYONE" in 1982 on ATLANTIC RECORDS. From that album have been released some singles and I'd like to introduce here a special one made with the title "IN THE GROOVES". This is a very special remixed version that you won't find very often....

RICKY CLARK - FLAM
RICKY or RICKIE CLARK, singer, rapper, composer and producer active in early 80's. Famous Rapper of the very indemand 1980 single "LADIES RIGHT" on INDY 5 RECORDS, he performed in 1984 another single with the RICKIE CLARK COMPANY on BECKET RECORDS, known as "TIME TO THROW DOWN". The third and last one I'll introduce here is "FLAM" edited with CIRCLE CITY RECORDS....
